Eons ago,in an alternate universe far from Gensokyo's, there was once a planet not unlike Earth.It supported life, it had a civilization,it even had its own gods and youkai.It was much like Earth in most respects,but there was one major difference. It was living on borrowed time. The civilization that lived there hadn't yet developed space tr avel, astronomy,or even telescopes. They had no way of knowing their life-giving star was about to blow up in their face. The apocalypse was fast and fierce. It was only due to Cathu s quick thinking that anyone survived at all, and even then only a few escaped -- all important members of the panthen...especially their creator god, Hasuta. Thousands of times,Hasuta and her progeny attempted to start a new civilization in the Void Passage. Thousands of times,they failed.The only things that survived in the abyss were youkai,and even then,most quickly died out due to lack of belief. Eventually,the pantheon gave up, and the once benevolent gods were left bitter,jaded, and losing faith. It was Hasuta's idea to use Cathu's ability to conquer other worlds.Turned into a hollow shell of her former self,she decided that the only way for the pantheon to gather the faith to survive was to drag it out of others by force.Finding an out- of-the way,poorly-secured point in that world,Cathu would create an entrance to the Void Passage,allowing an army of fresh youkai to invade the place.While some conquests failed, overall it worked wonders.The pantheon was raking in the faith. But the once desperate and kind Hasuta was now a conquest-happy emperor.She wanted more.And so,in the deepest parts of the Rainbow Dragon Cave,a gash was made in reality... |
