4chan's /jp/ board's essential Touhou albums chart from 2012. Consider it a list of what weebs thought are good entry points to the scene back in the early 2010s. Obviously it's not representative of the best or the most hipster-bait albums from the fandom.

The chart was made with input from multiple people, and is comprehensive and accurate. By that I mean, lol @ Xi-on for essential progressive metal and lol @ dBu for orchestral. Only one eurobeat album is baffling even for me, who doesn't even like the genre. Similar complaint applies to chiptune, though I like the genre more. Oh and also no indie rock. How will hipsters get into the fandom now????????

Genres here are what's shown on the chart, minus obvious stuff like vocal in the pop section.

東方古典響 ～ Touhou Classical （2009-02-22） 社团：DDとMPの同人工房 Did the English-speaking Touhou fandom back in 2010 care about circles from outside of Japan? I assumed they didn't, so having a Korean circle here is surprising to me. Granted, they did go to Reitaisai, and TLMC strips out data like circle nationality, so it's hard to tell if this is an intentional choice.
